Financial Controller - Sheffield, UK
We're looking for an ambitious, hands-on, and versatile Financial Controller to build an in-house finance function for our fast-growing business.
You'll be working closely with our Founder/CEO to help us organise and level up our operations as we grow from £4m turnover business to £10m and beyond.
Our finance function has traditionally been completely outsourced but as our business has grown rapidly in scale and complexity, now is the right time to bring most of it in-house.
You'll be building out this function from scratch and be responsible for evaluating and selecting the best finance software/cloud to power the business for the next few years.
You will be a qualified accountant with a few years commercial experience, a strong interest in technology and ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment.
Key duties
- Oversee all company accounts
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
- Establish & manage cost accounting and inventory control
- Manage overseas currency transactions
- VAT Accounting
- Create monthly reports to identify results, trends, and key performance indicators
- Financial budget & forecasts
- Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing activity
- Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems and processes
- Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance
- Annual statutory accounts
- Report to the CEO and board with timely and accurate financial information
- Assist the CEO in presenting reports to the board
- Evaluation of potential R&D tax credit claims
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Fully qualified with a recognised UK body
- Several years of experience in a business or finance environment;
- Manufacturing experience an advantage
- International / currency experience an advantage
- Good mathematical skills
- Integrity, reliability
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical skills
- Interest in Raspberry Pi, the Maker world and electronics a bonus
